What you need

An iPhone or iPad proxy is set per Wi-Fi network and carries Safari and most app traffic over HTTP(S). With a CleanProxies residential or mobile line, that's the quickest way to see how a site, app store page or ad looks from another country on a real phone.

Your credential line

From the dashboard's proxy manager: host (or IP), port, username and password. Convert lists with the proxy list formatter.

iPhone ready

  • An iPhone or iPad connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to proxy.
  • An HTTP(S) proxy line: residential and mobile with username and password, or an ISP proxy.

Which proxy fits iPhone?

Both products use the same setup in iPhone. What changes is how long an IP stays with you.

Use a sticky residential line (5 to 60 minutes or 24 hours): a rotating line changes IP between connections, and apps can sign you out. Pick a country in the dashboard to see local results.

starting from$0.63/GB

Residential IPs in 190+ countries with country, state and city targeting. Rotate on every request or hold a sticky session for up to 90 minutes; GB never expire.

A dedicated US ISP IP that stays the same all month, so apps that remember your location see one steady address. Whitelist your Wi-Fi's public IP to leave Authentication off.

starting from$0.75/IP

Dedicated static IPs registered to US and Canadian ISPs. The address stays the same for as long as you hold it, with unlimited bandwidth and HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 access.

credentials

Your CleanProxies credentials

Every product connects over HTTP(S); static ISP and ISP subnet proxies also run SOCKS5 and IP whitelisting. This is what the dashboard gives you to paste into iPhone.

Static ISP and ISP subnetHTTP(S)SOCKS5IP whitelist
IP:PORT:USER:PASS

One line per dedicated IP. With IP whitelisting on, the line is just IP:PORT and no password is sent.

Rotating residential and mobileHTTP(S)User:pass
HOST:PORT:USER:PASS

Generated in the proxy manager. The username carries the location and session you pick, so generate a new list to change them.

As a URL, for code and most toolshttp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORTsocks5://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT

Use http:// even for HTTPS websites; the TLS session still runs end to end. The socks5:// form is for static ISP and ISP subnet proxies.

iPhone + CleanProxies

What the iPhone proxy covers

  • One Wi-Fi network at a time: set it again for each network you join.
  • Mobile data has no proxy setting. Only a configuration profile on a supervised (company-managed) device can apply a global HTTP proxy across Wi-Fi and cellular.
  • HTTP proxies only: there's no SOCKS option. Residential and mobile lines (HTTP(S) with username and password) work as they are.
  • Traffic that isn't HTTP, such as FaceTime and other calls, bypasses the proxy. CleanProxies doesn't carry UDP either.

Apps with their own proxy setting

Some apps have a proxy setting of their own that works on mobile data too. Telegram, for example, takes a SOCKS5 proxy with a username and password: use a CleanProxies static ISP proxy with SOCKS5 switched on in the dashboard (residential and mobile don't offer SOCKS5). See proxies for Telegram.

Troubleshooting iPhone proxy errors

Verify your exit IP

Open What is my IP? in Safari on the proxied Wi-Fi: it shows your CleanProxies IP and its location. Switch to mobile data and the page shows your carrier's IP again, which confirms the proxy is per Wi-Fi network.

Open What is my IP? through the proxy to see the address and headers a website receives, or paste up to ten lines into the free proxy checker to test connectivity, latency and exit IP.

Still stuck? Our 24/7 support team answers fast: contact us with the error and the line you used (leave the password out).

iPhone error fixes
  • Safari keeps asking for the proxy passwordWhy: Authentication is off, or the username or password has a typo.Turn on Authentication in Configure Proxy and paste the username and password from the dashboard.
  • Proxy stops working away from homeWhy: The proxy belongs to one Wi-Fi network; mobile data and other networks go direct.Set Configure Proxy on each network you use.
  • An app still shows your real locationWhy: The app uses a non-HTTP connection or GPS, which the proxy can't change.Use the app's own proxy setting if it has one, and check its location permission.
  • No internet after savingWhy: Wrong port, or an ISP proxy without your current public IP whitelisted.Check the port, add the IP in the dashboard or turn on Authentication, or set Configure Proxy back to Off.
