Proxies for Steam

Game publishers, analysts and price trackers compare Steam's regional prices, sale discounts and which titles are available where. Steam prices most games per region, so a store view from each country is the raw data for pricing decisions and market research. This is research only: using a proxy to change your own store region breaks Steam's rules.

What is different about Steam

How Steam localises, limits and checks traffic, and what that means for your setup.

Country set by cc and IP

Store pages accept a cc country parameter (for example ?cc=de), and the store also reads the IP. Use both, matched to the same country.

Official endpoints exist

Valve's Steam Web API and the store's public app details endpoint return app data and prices by country. Both are rate-limited, so cache results and request only what changed.

Research, not region changes

The Steam Subscriber Agreement forbids using a VPN or proxy to disguise your location, including to buy at another region's price. Research logged out and never buy through a proxy.

Web traffic only

Our proxies carry HTTP(S) web traffic and no UDP, so they're not for game connections, matchmaking or lowering ping.

Which proxy fits Steam?

Our recommendation for Steam.

Steam shows prices, currency and availability by the visitor's country. Rotating residential proxies in 190+ countries let you load each regional store page from a matching IP, logged out, rotating between titles.

starting from$0.63/GB

Residential IPs in 190+ countries with country, state and city targeting. Rotate on every request or hold a sticky session for up to 90 minutes; GB never expire.

use cases

What teams use Steam proxies for

  • Compare regional prices for your game and competitors' games
  • Track discount depth and timing during seasonal sales
  • Check where titles are available or restricted
  • Verify your store page's localised text and media by region

How to set up proxies for Steam

Every CleanProxies proxy connects over HTTP(S) with the credentials in your dashboard; ISP and ISP subnet proxies also run SOCKS5. Test them with the free proxy checker and convert lists with the proxy list formatter.

  1. 1

    Pick titles and countries

List the games and the regional stores you compare.

  2. 2

Use the app details endpoint first

Request price data per country from the store's public endpoint and cache it.

  3. 3

    Load store pages logged out

For what the endpoint doesn't cover, open the store page through a residential proxy in that country with the matching cc.

  4. 4

Store price with currency and date

Save price, currency, discount and date so you can compare regions and sales over time.

Best practices to avoid blocks on Steam

Respect Steam's terms and the law

The Steam Subscriber Agreement prohibits using a proxy or VPN to disguise your location, including to buy at another region's price or reach region-restricted content. Use proxies only for logged-out price and availability research, never for purchases, gifts or key activation. CleanProxies customers must follow our Terms of Service and the laws that apply to them; this page is general guidance, not legal advice.

Steam checklist
  • Stay logged out for research.
  • Cache responses and space requests out.
  • Never purchase, gift or redeem keys through a proxy.
  • Record currency and whether a discount is active with each price.
