Proxies for Kroger

Kroger prices and promotions are set per store, so a grocery brand's shelf price in one city can differ from the next. CPG brands, category managers and price-intelligence teams follow that data store by store. Kroger publishes a developer API that returns prices for a chosen store, so this guide starts there and covers where proxies still help.

What is different about Kroger

How Kroger localises, limits and checks traffic, and what that means for your setup.

Start with the Kroger API

Kroger's developer portal (developer.kroger.com) offers a Locations API to find stores and a Products API that returns regular and promo prices when you pass a store's location ID. It is the sanctioned, stable way to get store prices; use pages only for what it does not return.

Prices belong to a store

On the website the selected store decides prices, promotions and fulfilment options. Set the store in the session and record its ID with every price, exactly as the API does.

Digital coupons need an account

Many Kroger deals are digital coupons a shopper loads to their loyalty account. Track the public shelf and promo price separately from coupon offers, and do not sign in to many loyalty accounts to collect them.

Banners have their own sites

Kroger-owned chains such as Ralphs, Fred Meyer and King Soopers run their own websites with their own stores. Check whether the API covers the banner you need before you plan page monitoring around it.

Which proxy fits Kroger?

Our recommendation for Kroger, and when the second option is the better choice.

Prices on Kroger follow the selected store, which you set in the session, so the IP's city matters less than consistency. Static US ISP proxies give a few dedicated IPs with unlimited bandwidth for a fixed list of stores and products checked every day, alongside your API calls.

starting from$0.75/IP

Dedicated static IPs registered to US and Canadian ISPs. The address stays the same for as long as you hold it, with unlimited bandwidth and HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 access.

Use rotating residential proxies with state or city targeting when you crawl many stores across Kroger's banners, or need to see which store and promotions a shopper in a given city is shown by default.

starting from$0.63/GB

Residential IPs in 190+ countries with country, state and city targeting. Rotate on every request or hold a sticky session for up to 90 minutes; GB never expire.

How to set up proxies for Kroger

Every CleanProxies proxy connects over HTTP(S) with the credentials in your dashboard; ISP and ISP subnet proxies also run SOCKS5. Test them with the free proxy checker and convert lists with the proxy list formatter.

  1. 1

    Register for the API

Create an app on developer.kroger.com, look up your stores with the Locations API and pull prices with the Products API.

  2. 2

    List the gaps

Write down which fields or banners the API does not give you; those are the only pages your monitor should load.

  3. 3

    Assign stores to static IPs

For page checks, give each US static ISP IP a fixed group of stores, and set the store at the start of each session.

  4. 4

Join API and page data by store ID

Key every record by Kroger's store and product IDs so API prices and page checks line up.

Best practices to avoid blocks on Kroger

Respect Kroger's terms and the law

Use Kroger's developer API under its terms wherever it covers your needs, follow the website's Terms of Use for any page checks, and collect only public price and product data. Do not create loyalty accounts in bulk or automate coupon clipping. CleanProxies customers must follow our Terms of Service and the laws that apply to them; this page is general guidance, not legal advice.

Kroger checklist
  • Call the API within the limits shown in your developer account and cache store lookups.
  • Confirm the selected store on every page before you save a price.
  • Check once a day; grocery promotions usually change weekly.
  • Keep loyalty-account logins off monitoring IPs.
  • Pause on verification pages instead of retrying immediately.
