A datacenter proxy is a proxy whose IP address belongs to a hosting company or cloud provider rather than to a consumer internet provider. It is fast and cheap, but any IP lookup shows that the visitor is a server.
Hosting companies own IP ranges and announce them under their own ASN. A datacenter proxy provider rents servers or address blocks from them and runs proxy software on each IP. You connect to the proxy's address and port, and websites see that hosting IP as the visitor.
Because the addresses are plentiful and the hardware is shared across many customers, datacenter proxies are the cheapest proxies per IP. They are also fast and stable, since nothing depends on a home connection or a phone staying online.
The weakness is the network, not the speed. Anti-fraud systems look up the ASN of every visitor, and a hosting ASN tells them the traffic comes from a server. Sites that only expect people, such as retailers, travel sites, social platforms and search engines, often add CAPTCHAs, lower limits or blocks for hosting ranges as a class, whatever the IP reputation of the single address.
A datacenter IP with a clean history is still a hosting IP. Clean reputation helps on sites that score individual addresses, but it does not change the network type that a single lookup reveals.
Datacenter proxies still have good uses: testing your own services from other addresses, reading APIs and sites that don't filter by network type, and bulk downloads where speed matters more than how the visitor looks.
If you need datacenter speed but a consumer network in the lookup, compare the two in ISP vs residential vs datacenter proxies. CleanProxies static ISP proxies run on server hardware with IPs from US carrier ASNs, unlimited bandwidth and pricing as low as $0.75 per IP.
The CleanProxies proxy that fits best here, with a $4.99 trial to test it first.
Dedicated IPs on US carrier ASNs with unlimited bandwidth and threads, never shared.
Dedicated static IPs registered to US and Canadian ISPs. The address stays the same for as long as you hold it, with unlimited bandwidth and HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 access.

Straight answers about Datacenter proxy.
Yes, easily. One ASN lookup shows that the IP belongs to a hosting or cloud provider, so sites know the request comes from a server even if they cannot see that it is a proxy.
