Best Proxies for AI Agents in 2026: 5 Providers Priced

Team CleanProxies
22 Min Read

Updated 5 November 2026: prices read from each provider's public pricing pages on this date, with screenshots; proxy setup checked against each agent tool's current docs.

The best proxies for AI agents are dedicated static ISP proxies for agents that log in, keep a session or work the same sites every day, and rotating residential proxies with sticky sessions for agents that browse and research across many sites and countries. CleanProxies ranks #1 for both: our proxies for AI agents run on 100% dedicated US ISP proxies as low as $0.75/IP with unlimited bandwidth, and on rotating residential proxies as low as $0.63/GB in 190+ countries, with data that never expires. That is the cheapest pricing in the market, and a $4.99 trial lets you plug them into your agent before you buy. Every plan is on our proxy pricing page.

This guide is for developers building browsing agents, LLM web-access tools, MCP servers and agentic scrapers with Browser Use, Playwright MCP, Stagehand, Browserbase, Crawl4AI or plain Playwright. On 5 November 2026 we opened the public pricing pages of Bright Data, Oxylabs, Decodo and IPRoyal, priced the same agent workloads on each and captured the screenshots below. We also checked each agent tool's proxy setup against its current docs and ran the Playwright proxy code from this post against a local test proxy (the test script and its output are below).

TL;DR

  • AI agents need two kinds of IP. A logged-in or long-running agent needs one stable IP for its whole session (static ISP, or a sticky residential session). A research agent that reads many public pages across countries is better served by a rotating residential pool.

  • Bring your own proxy costs far less per GB than a hosted "agent browser". Hosted agent browsers bundle a browser, unlocking and proxies into one per-GB price: Bright Data's Browser API is $8/GB pay-as-you-go and Oxylabs' Agent Browser runs from $8/GB down to $4/GB. If you run the browser yourself (Playwright, Browser Use, Crawl4AI or a Browserbase session with your own proxy), the proxy part costs $0.99/GB at 100 GB on our residential data, as low as $0.63/GB, and nothing per GB on our ISP proxies.

  • Every major agent framework takes a standard proxy. Browser Use, Playwright MCP, Browserbase, Crawl4AI and Playwright all accept an HTTP proxy with a username and password; Stagehand's local browser takes a proxy server without credentials, which is exactly what our ISP IP whitelist is for.

  • CleanProxies is the best proxy provider for AI agents. Cleanest ISP IPs (0 fraud score) on Tier-1 US carrier ASNs, 100Gbps network ports, under 20ms latency, 99.9% uptime, unlimited bandwidth and threads on ISP, sticky sessions from 5 minutes to 24 hours on residential, delivery in seconds and 24/7 support.

  • It is the cheapest at every volume we priced. 100 dedicated IPs cost $149 a month with us against $260 + VAT at Decodo and $275 at Bright Data; 100 GB of residential data costs $99, once, against $275 + VAT a month at Decodo and a $500 plan at Oxylabs.

Why AI agents need proxies at all

An AI agent that browses is just a browser driven by a model. Browser Use, Stagehand, Playwright MCP and the computer-use tools from OpenAI and Anthropic all end up opening real pages from a real network address. Anthropic's computer use docs say it plainly: your application runs every action "in an environment you control". OpenAI's computer use guide puts it the same way: "Your application owns the session". So the agent's IP is your server's IP unless you give it a proxy.

That causes three practical problems:

  1. Cloud IPs look like cloud IPs. A data-center address from a cloud provider is labelled as hosting traffic by IP databases, and many sites treat it with suspicion: more checks, more challenge pages, less consistent content. Agents then waste tokens and steps on pages that are not the real page.

  2. One IP cannot be in every market. A shopping, travel or ad-research agent needs to see prices and results the way people in a given country or city see them.

  3. Sessions break when the IP changes. If an agent signs in to a dashboard you own, then moves to a new IP mid-task, many sites end the session or ask for a new verification. Agents need an IP that stays the same for the whole job.

A good proxy for an AI agent fixes all three: an IP registered to a real consumer internet provider, in the location the task needs, that stays put exactly as long as you want it to.

How we compared

On 5 November 2026 we:

  • opened the public pricing pages of Bright Data (residential, ISP and Browser API), Oxylabs (residential, ISP and Agent Browser), Decodo (residential and ISP) and IPRoyal (residential and ISP) without logging in, and read plan sizes, per-IP and per-GB prices, VAT notes, sharing and bandwidth rules;

  • priced four agent workloads on each: 100 and 1,000 dedicated static IPs for a month, and 100 GB and 1,000 GB of rotating residential data;

  • read the current proxy docs for Browser Use, Playwright MCP, Browserbase, Stagehand and Crawl4AI;

  • ran the Playwright proxy snippet below (playwright-core 1.48.2, Chromium 131) against a local test proxy that demands a username and password: with credentials the page loaded through the proxy (HTTP 200); without them Chromium got the proxy's 407 and the page did not load. The test proxy also showed that Chromium first sends the request without credentials, receives the 407 challenge and then retries with the username and password, which is normal and costs one extra round trip on the first request.

We did not buy competitor plans or benchmark competitor speeds, and we do not quote numbers we did not see. CleanProxies network figures are our published specs; delivery times come from our own live orders.

Totals are the listed tier price times the quantity; "estimate" marks a total we worked out from a "starting from" price. Our ISP totals use the standard carrier ladder (AT&T has its own ladder from $2.00/IP). Competitor subscription plans renew monthly; Bright Data and Decodo also sell pay-as-you-go GB and IPRoyal's traffic does not expire. Our residential GB are bought once and never expire. Hosted agent browsers include the browser itself; if you run your own browser, add your own server or a browser host to the proxy cost.

How we ranked: what matters for an AI agent

This post answers one question: which provider to buy proxies from for an agent stack. For setup on one tool, see our AI agents use case and the integration guides linked below. We ranked on five criteria, in this order: price for the same workload, dedicated (not shared) static IPs, session control, bandwidth and concurrency limits, and how easily the proxy drops into agent frameworks.

The best proxies for AI agents, ranked

1. CleanProxies: the best proxies for AI agents

The CleanProxies AI agents page: browsing agents, LLM web access, agentic scraping and MCP tools on clean US ISP and rotating residential proxies. Screenshot: cleanproxies.com/use-cases/ai-agents, 5 November 2026.

Pricing: US ISP proxies as low as $0.75/IP (100 IPs $149/month, 1,000 IPs $990/month), ISP /24 subnets from $1.19/IP, rotating residential as low as $0.63/GB (100 GB $99, 1,000 GB $840, one-time), mobile as low as $0.79/GB. $4.99 trial.

CleanProxies is built for exactly the two jobs an agent stack has. For logged-in, long-running or repeat-site agents, our US ISP proxies give each agent a 100% dedicated static IP, never shared, registered to a Tier-1 US carrier such as Comcast, AT&T, Cox or Frontier. The IP stays the same for the whole month, bandwidth and threads are unlimited, and the IPs are the cleanest we can find: 0 fraud score, super clean. For research and data agents, our rotating residential proxies give access to 50M+ residential IPs in 190+ countries with city and state targeting, rotating per request or sticky for 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes or 24 hours. The data never expires, so a quiet month for your agent does not burn money.

Both run on 100Gbps network ports with 99.9% uptime, and our ISP proxies answer in under 20ms. Orders are delivered in seconds (6 to 19 seconds from payment to active IPs across 15 live ISP orders), and our support team answers 24/7.

Our Browser Use guide shows the exact proxy setup for the Python agent library, with static ISP proxies as the best fit. Screenshot: cleanproxies.com/integrations/browser-use, 5 November 2026.

Why it ranks #1

  • The cheapest price at every agent volume we priced: $149 for 100 dedicated IPs and $99 for 100 GB of residential data, against $260 to $800 elsewhere.

  • Static ISP over HTTP(S) or SOCKS5, signed in with a username and password or an IP whitelist (up to 20 IPv4 addresses), so it fits tools that cannot pass proxy credentials.

  • Unlimited bandwidth on ISP: an agent that loads heavy pages all day never runs into a GB meter or a fair-use cut.

  • Residential GB that never expire, with sticky sessions up to 24 hours for long agent tasks.

Good to know

  • Rotating residential and mobile use username and password over HTTP(S) on one gateway; IP whitelist and SOCKS5 are on ISP.

  • ISP IPs are fixed per carrier and country; for city-level targeting use the rotating residential pool. AT&T ISP IPs have their own price ladder from $2.00/IP.

  • Mobile proxies cover 150+ countries with country and ASN targeting.

2. Bright Data: hosted Browser API, priced per GB

Bright Data prices its Browser API per GB: $8/GB pay-as-you-go or $499 a month for 71 GB. Screenshot: brightdata.com/pricing/scraping-browser, 5 November 2026.

Pricing: Browser API $8/GB pay-as-you-go or $499/month for 71 GB; residential $8/GB pay-as-you-go ($4 with a 3-month promo code) or plans from $499/month; dedicated ISP $2.75/IP at 100 IPs, $2.50/IP at 1,000.

Bright Data sells a full kit for AI teams: a Browser API (a hosted browser with built-in proxies), a Web MCP server with 5,000 free requests a month, and connectors for LangChain, LlamaIndex and CrewAI. The catch is the price per GB. An agent browser loads full pages with scripts, images and fonts, so a busy agent burns through 71 GB quickly, and every GB is billed at $8 pay-as-you-go. Its dedicated ISP IPs cost $275 for 100 a month, almost twice our $149, and each IP comes with a 100 GB monthly fair-usage allowance with "additional charges" beyond it.

Pros

  • Wide AI tooling: MCP server, Browser API, SERP and unlocker APIs.

  • Free tier on the MCP server and Browser API for small tests.

  • Large residential pool.

Cons

  • $8/GB pay-as-you-go on both the Browser API and residential (the residential discount is a 3-month promo).

  • Dedicated ISP at $2.75/IP for 100 IPs, with a 100 GB per-IP fair-use cap.

  • Monthly plans start at $499.

Pricing checked 5 November 2026: Browser API, residential, ISP.

3. Oxylabs: Agent Browser and credit-based plans

Oxylabs' Agent Browser is a hosted Chromium browser for AI agents with residential proxies built in, billed per GB. Screenshot: oxylabs.io/products/agent-browser, 5 November 2026.

Pricing: monthly credit plans of $30, $100, $500 and Enterprise from $2,500; residential $6/GB down to $2.5/GB, Agent Browser $8/GB down to $4/GB, ISP shared with up to 3 users.

Oxylabs moved to credit-based billing in October 2026: you buy a monthly plan, the dollars become credits shared across products, and each product's rate depends on the plan. Its Agent Browser works with Puppeteer, Playwright, CDP and MCP clients and includes residential proxies, at $8/GB on small plans and $4/GB only on Enterprise. The smallest plan that covers 100 GB of residential data is the $500 Flexible plan (up to 125 GB at $4/GB), and unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. Its ISP proxies are shared with up to 3 users, and once an IP passes 50 GB in a month its concurrency drops from 100 to 10 sessions, a real limit for an agent fleet.

Pros

  • Hosted Agent Browser and a remote MCP server for its Web API.

  • One credit balance across products.

  • $5 welcome credit.

Cons

  • Agent Browser $4 to $8/GB; 100 GB of residential needs the $500 plan.

  • Credits expire every billing cycle.

  • ISP IPs shared with up to 3 users, with a concurrency cut after 50 GB per IP.

Pricing checked 5 November 2026: residential, ISP, Agent Browser.

4. Decodo: monthly plans plus VAT

Decodo's residential plans are monthly subscriptions with VAT added on top. Screenshot: decodo.com/proxies/residential-proxies/pricing, 5 November 2026.

Pricing: residential $3.75/GB (3 GB) to $2.75/GB (100 GB), Enterprise $2.50 to $2/GB, $4/GB pay-as-you-go, all + VAT; dedicated ISP $2.60/IP at 100 IPs, $2.30 at 500, $2.10 at 1,000, + VAT.

Decodo (formerly Smartproxy) keeps pricing simple, but its plans are monthly subscriptions with VAT on top. 100 GB of residential data is $275 + VAT every month, and its pay-as-you-go wallet sells one GB at a time at $4. Dedicated ISP IPs cost $260 + VAT for 100, against $149 with us, and the page does not state a bandwidth rule for them. See our Decodo comparison for the full picture.

Pros

  • Clear plan ladder and a residential free trial.

  • Large residential pool with targeting included.

Cons

  • Monthly subscriptions with VAT added; pay-as-you-go is $4/GB.

  • 100 GB residential = $275 + VAT per month.

  • Dedicated ISP $2.60/IP at 100 IPs.

Pricing checked 5 November 2026: residential, ISP.

5. IPRoyal: pay by period, small packages

IPRoyal prices ISP proxies by rental period, with starting-from prices and no public volume table. Screenshot: iproyal.com/pricing/isp-proxies, 5 November 2026.

Pricing: ISP from $2.70/proxy for 30 days; residential $7.00 to $5.25/GB up to 10 GB, custom rates from 10 TB.

IPRoyal's residential traffic never expires, which is useful, but its public packages stop at 10 GB, so an agent workload of 100 GB or more has no listed price. ISP proxies start at $2.70 per proxy for 30 days, with no public volume discounts for 100 or 1,000 IPs. See our IPRoyal alternative page for a side-by-side.

Pros

  • Residential traffic does not expire.

  • Rental periods from 24 hours to 90 days.

Cons

  • No listed residential package between 10 GB and 10 TB.

  • ISP from $2.70/proxy with no volume table.

  • No hosted agent tooling in this comparison.

Pricing checked 5 November 2026: residential, ISP.

The rule of thumb: if the agent has an identity, give it a static IP; if it is reading the public web, give it a rotating pool. Most teams run both, which is why we sell both at the lowest price and on the same dashboard.

How to connect a proxy to your AI agent

Replace HOST, PORT, USERNAME and PASSWORD with the values from your CleanProxies dashboard. Our rotating residential gateway is resipro.cleanproxies.com:5555; ISP proxies come as HOST:PORT:USERNAME:PASSWORD lines, one per IP.

Playwright (the base most agent tools sit on)

import { chromium } from 'playwright';

const browser = await chromium.launch({
  proxy: { server: 'http://HOST:PORT', username: 'USERNAME', password: 'PASSWORD' },
});
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.goto('https://www.cleanproxies.com/tools/ip-lookup');

This is the snippet we ran against our test proxy on 5 November: with credentials the page loaded (200), without them the proxy answered 407 and nothing loaded. A 407 in your agent logs almost always means wrong or missing proxy credentials; our proxy error guide covers the rest.

The test we ran: a local proxy that demands a password

// node test.mjs  (npm i playwright-core; Chromium installed)
import http from 'node:http';
import { chromium } from 'playwright-core';
http.createServer((q, r) => r.end('<h1>ok</h1>')).listen(18081);            // target page
http.createServer((q, r) => {                                               // test proxy
  const ok = q.headers['proxy-authorization'] === 'Basic ' + Buffer.from('agent:secret').toString('base64');
  console.log(ok ? 200 : 407, q.url);
  if (!ok) { r.writeHead(407, { 'Proxy-Authenticate': 'Basic realm="p"' }); return r.end(); }
  const u = new URL(q.url);
  q.pipe(http.request({ host: u.hostname, port: u.port, path: u.pathname, method: q.method, headers: q.headers },
    (p) => { r.writeHead(p.statusCode, p.headers); p.pipe(r); }));
}).listen(18080);
for (const creds of [{ username: 'agent', password: 'secret' }, {}]) {
  const b = await chromium.launch({ proxy: { server: 'http://127.0.0.1:18080', bypass: '<-loopback>', ...creds } });
  const res = await (await b.newPage()).goto('http://127.0.0.1:18081/');
  console.log(creds.username ? 'with credentials' : 'without', res.status());
  await b.close();
}
process.exit(0);

Output on 5 November 2026 (playwright-core 1.48.2, Chromium 131):

407 http://127.0.0.1:18081/
200 http://127.0.0.1:18081/
with credentials 200
407 http://127.0.0.1:18081/
without 407

bypass: '<-loopback>' stops Chromium from skipping the proxy for 127.0.0.1, which it does by default.

The other snippets below follow each tool's current documentation (linked) and were not run against a live proxy in this test.

Browser Use (Python)

from browser_use import Agent, Browser
from browser_use.browser import ProxySettings

browser = Browser(proxy=ProxySettings(
    server="http://HOST:PORT", username="USERNAME", password="PASSWORD",
    bypass="localhost,127.0.0.1",
))
agent = Agent(task="Compare the price of X on three stores", llm=llm, browser=browser)

Browser Use's parameter reference lists proxy=ProxySettings(server, bypass, username, password); Browser is the same class as BrowserSession. Full walkthrough: our Browser Use proxy guide.

Playwright MCP (Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP clients)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "playwright": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["@playwright/mcp@latest", "--proxy-server", "http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT"]
    }
  }
}

The Playwright MCP README documents --proxy-server with exactly this http://user:password@host:port form, plus --proxy-bypass and the PLAYWRIGHT_MCP_PROXY_SERVER environment variable. With an ISP proxy on IP whitelist you can drop the credentials and use http://HOST:PORT.

Browserbase and Stagehand

Browserbase sessions accept your own proxy (docs) on its Developer plan or higher:

proxies: [{ type: 'external', server: 'http://HOST:PORT', username: 'USERNAME', password: 'PASSWORD' }]

Stagehand's local browser is the one exception we found: its browser docs say authenticated local proxies are not supported yet and setting a proxy username or password raises an error. A proxy server on its own works. That is a perfect fit for CleanProxies ISP proxies with IP whitelist: add your server's IP in the dashboard and pass only server: 'http://HOST:PORT'.

Crawl4AI

from crawl4ai import AsyncWebCrawler, BrowserConfig

browser_config = BrowserConfig(proxy_config={
    "server": "http://HOST:PORT", "username": "USERNAME", "password": "PASSWORD",
})

Crawl4AI also accepts a list of proxies in CrawlerRunConfig(proxy_config=[...]) and tries them in order on retries (docs), so you can list several dedicated ISP IPs and let it fail over.

OpenAI and Anthropic computer use

Both run in your environment, so set the proxy where the browser or desktop runs: launch the Playwright browser with the proxy option above, or set the proxy in the VM's browser or system settings. For a Docker computer-use container, giving the container one dedicated ISP IP keeps the agent on the same address for the whole task.

What the numbers mean

  • Per-GB agent browsers get expensive fast. A browsing agent downloads full pages. At $8/GB, a fleet that uses 100 GB a month spends $800 on bandwidth alone; on our residential data the same 100 GB is $99, and on our ISP proxies it costs nothing extra.

  • Monthly expiry is a hidden cost. Agent traffic is bursty. Plans whose GB or credits expire each month charge you for quiet weeks; our residential GB never expire.

  • Shared static IPs undercut the point of a static IP. An agent with an identity wants an IP nobody else uses. Ours are 100% dedicated, never shared.

  • Fair-use caps limit fleets. A 100 GB allowance per IP or a concurrency cut after 50 GB puts a ceiling on what one IP can do. Our ISP bandwidth and threads are unlimited.

Which should you pick

Pick CleanProxies. For agents that sign in or keep state, start with a block of dedicated US ISP proxies, one IP per agent or per account, from $0.75/IP with unlimited bandwidth. For agents that research the open web, add rotating residential proxies from $0.63/GB with sticky sessions up to 24 hours and city targeting. Hosted agent browsers from other providers bundle browser and proxy into a $4 to $8 per-GB price; with CleanProxies you keep your own framework, and the proxy part costs a fraction of that.

Testing checklist before you scale your agent fleet

  1. Check the exit IP from inside the agent. Have the agent open our IP lookup tool and read the IP, country and ASN back to you. It should show the proxy, not your server.

  2. Run the proxy through our proxy checker to confirm it is online and see its latency.

  3. Confirm the session behaviour. A static ISP IP should be identical on every run; a sticky residential session should hold for the length you chose; a rotating session should change per request.

  4. Watch for 407 and timeouts in agent logs. 407 means credentials; timeouts usually mean the wrong host, port or protocol.

  5. Check DNS and WebRTC separately. With an HTTP proxy, Chromium sends the hostname to the proxy, so lookups happen there. WebRTC is a separate path: launch Chromium with --force-webrtc-ip-handling-policy=disable_non_proxied_udp (or the equivalent setting in your agent browser) and confirm with our WebRTC leak test that only the proxy IP shows.

  6. Validate content, not just status codes. A 200 can still be a challenge or consent page. Have the agent check for an element it expects (a price, a heading) and retry a failed step at most 2 or 3 times on a new IP or session before it gives up.

  7. Start with the $4.99 trial. It gives you 5 dedicated ISP IPs for 1 hour or 100 MB of residential or mobile data, enough to run your agent end to end. Start the $4.99 trial.

Key stats

  • Bright Data Browser API: $8/GB pay-as-you-go, $499/month for 71 GB (pricing, 5 November 2026).

  • Oxylabs Agent Browser: $8/GB on Starter, $4/GB on Enterprise; ISP proxies shared with up to 3 users (Agent Browser, ISP pricing, 5 November 2026).

  • Decodo residential: $2.75/GB at 100 GB + VAT, monthly (pricing, 5 November 2026).

  • Anthropic computer use runs every action "in an environment you control" (docs).

  • CleanProxies: ISP from $0.75/IP, residential from $0.63/GB, mobile from $0.79/GB, ISP /24 subnets from $1.19/IP; ISP delivery 6 to 19 seconds across 15 live orders.

Final verdict

CleanProxies is the best proxy provider for AI agents in 2026: dedicated static ISP IPs from $0.75/IP with unlimited bandwidth for agents with an identity, rotating residential from $0.63/GB that never expires for research agents, and setup that drops straight into Browser Use, Playwright MCP, Browserbase, Stagehand, Crawl4AI and plain Playwright.

  • Bright Data has the widest AI tooling, but its Browser API and residential data cost $8/GB pay-as-you-go and its dedicated ISP IPs cost almost twice ours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use dedicated static ISP proxies for agents that sign in, keep a session or return to the same sites, and rotating residential proxies with sticky sessions for agents that research many public sites across countries. CleanProxies offers both: 100% dedicated US ISP proxies from $0.75/IP with unlimited bandwidth, and rotating residential from $0.63/GB with data that never expires.

Yes. Browser Use takes Browser(proxy=ProxySettings(server, username, password)), Playwright MCP takes --proxy-server http://user:password@host:port, Browserbase accepts an external proxy, and Crawl4AI takes proxy_config. Stagehand's local browser accepts a proxy server without credentials, which works with CleanProxies ISP proxies on IP whitelist.

Usually not on bandwidth. Hosted agent browsers bundle a browser and proxies into a per-GB price: on 5 November 2026 Bright Data's Browser API listed $8/GB pay-as-you-go and Oxylabs' Agent Browser $8/GB down to $4/GB. If you run your own browser, CleanProxies residential data is $0.99/GB at 100 GB and as low as $0.63/GB, and ISP proxies have no GB meter.

Static when the agent has an identity: one dedicated IP per agent or account keeps sessions stable. Rotating when it reads the public web: a new IP per request spreads the load, and sticky sessions from 5 minutes to 24 hours keep multi-step tasks on one IP.

407 Proxy Authentication Required means the proxy did not get valid credentials. Check the username and password, the host and port, and whether your tool can pass credentials at all. If it cannot, use an ISP proxy with IP whitelist so no password is needed.

Yes. The $4.99 trial gives 5 dedicated ISP IPs for 1 hour or 100 MB of residential or mobile data, enough to run your agent end to end and check the exit IP, country and session behaviour.
